Dana Lehrer Danze Teapots Workshop

Dana Lehrer Danze is a potter with a studio at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA. She has exhibited in national and international juried shows including Baltimore Clayworks "100 Teapots", Craft Forms Annual International Exhibition in Wayne PA, the Art League International Juried Exhibition "Tea", has had several solo shows and has won numerous awards. Dana has taught workshops in throwing various forms and decorating with resists, glazes, and slips.
Dana is known for her distinctive style of stoneware teapots, decorated with images like spirals, vines and trees. She mainly works in blue and green glazes, contrasting the glaze designs with red-brown clay. She will be demonstrating her thrown and altered teapots and other forms. She will also demo some of her decorating techniques, including wax resist, and there will be an opportunity for participants to decorate some sample pieces
Saturday - will be a demonstration day where she will show the shapes that she makes to combine and alter to form her teapots. She will also show she makes the tall handles which make a statement when added to her forms.
Sunday - Dana will demonstrate her glazing techniques and then you will have a chance to try it on a piece either of your own or ones that we supply.
